Tonight, Karen and I went to her office Christmas party. It was pretty cool. They held it at Galatoire's Restaurant on Bourbon Street. Entertainment was provided by Marva Wright, the New Orleans Blues Queen. She was awesome. I really enjoy that jazz/blues music. Her voice is so sultry!
I presented my paper last week on possible futures of the church in the United States. It was well received. The focus of that paper was to compile current predictions by leaders in the field and to develop categories for future research. I may very well write my dissertation on this topic. However, I am also very interested in house churches, and the unique role they play in church growth. I am going to try and rewrite my seminar paper to submit to the ACSG journal. It will probably take a bit of work, but what else do I have to do during the Christmas season.
I am preaching at my home church in Chattanooga, TN the last Sunday of the month. I am looking forward to the opportunity to go home and renew old friendships. Also, I will have the opportunity to share some of what I have been studying and maybe impact the church in the process.
Till the next time. . .
